Turner was proudly represented by Project Journey team member Deniese Medley at the most recent sponsor appreciation event of the Greater Washington Urban League (GWUL).  The MWAA staff and Project Journey team partner with the GWUL to drive the success of workforce development efforts in the region.

Co-hosted by Turner and Comcast, the reception event was significant not only to thank sponsors for support to date but more importantly to encourage support for the 75th anniversary later this year. In addition to acknowledging the support of the event sponsors, GWUL CEO George Lambert gave a  special thanks to the newest members of the “Millionaire’s Club –companies who have contributed in excess of $ 1 million dollars to support the programming of the organization.  Since it’s inception the GWUL has impacted over 5 million lives in the DMV.

Team Turner was the gracious and proud recipient of the 2018 Vanguard Award from the National Hispanic Contractors Association.

Awarded during the recent Legislative Conference, Turner was recognized for decades of capacity building initiatives across the country and our most recent efforts to offer the Turner School of Construction Management in Spanish.

The award was accepted by both C&C Regional Director, Carolyn Ellison, Assistant Procurement Agent Janice Johnson and a Project Superintendant, Guillermo Leon Orellana.  In addition to being one of the presenters in the class offering,  Guillermo was able to speak to the specific partnerships and efforts of several LDBE subcontractor member firms who are working on Project Journey; Dynamic Contracting and JP Construction.

Offering the Turner School of Construction Management in Spanish is a concept that is receiving much praise and reception across the country and is made possible with the personal commitment from not only Mid Atlantic personnel but also the contributions and support from business unit employees  from California, New York and New Jersey.

The MWAA project team hosted a bid preconference and site walk on February 1, 2017 to discuss details of the upcoming work on the New North Concourse. Held in the Historic Lobby of Terminal A, over 100 subcontractor interests attended to learn more about the demolition of Hangar 11 and 12 including 30 LBBE firms and several TSCM graduates.

A very special thanks to all who participated in the planning and hosting of subcontractor interests including Ty Pate, Lee Palermiti Fred Baniowski,  LaToya Stephens, Janice Johnson, Carolyn Ellison, Ben Short, Patrick Kenny, Anthony Reck, Will Magness, Chris Littler, Abdon Friend, Svet Neov, Jeff Stephens and Karim Najjar.

A notable thanks to our MWAA clients who assisted and supported.
